When I was a kid, I wondered what it would be like to catch a bird - no bigger than a house sparrow. A wren or blue tit, maybe. I tried the old trick of leaving breadcrumbs in a box propped up by a pencil, but not one single bird came along to spring the trap. And in the end, I had to give up.
Putting up a hypnotic script, or sending someone a trigger embedded in a text or email or a sound file, is very much like putting out one of those traps. I just want to see what manner of garden bird is going to step into my trap.
